Preparing for Move Out
As it states on your lease, tenant(s) are to give the office 60 days’ notice. We will work with you to schedule a move-out inspection that must be completed by 12:00 noon on your move-out date.
Before your move-out, please be aware of some items we will be looking at:
- Cleanliness/ Sanitary conditions
- Damaged blinds
- Damaged window screens
- Missing fire extinguisher or fire detector
- Trash or furniture left behind
- Unreturned keys
- Damaged doors, locks or hardware
- Patches or holes in walls
- Burned out light bulbs
- Condition of carpet and other flooring
- Any other damaged property
Based upon the condition of your apartment, home, or duplex, you could be liable for fees. Your security deposit will cover the fees first; however, if the damages are excessive you will have to pay the remainder out-of-pocket.
Moving Out
Please remember to have utility services transferred back into to PIC’s name. All tenants should schedule to transfer utilities on the last day of the lease. You must call to make a request for Resident to Landlord transfer.
You and your roommate(s) will need to sign off on the move-out inspection form and provide a forwarding address. Keys and any other property will need to be returned to PIC. We start the security deposit return process as soon as we take possession and the keys are returned and will return any deposit not used per Indiana law within 45 days of move-out, provided a forwarding address has been given to us. Remember, we cannot send a security deposit return if a forwarding address is not provided.
